Man Uses Bedsheets to Escape COVID Restrictions in Australia [Photo]

A man in the Australian city of Perth has been arrested after reportedly escaping a mandatory quarantine hotel by scaling down a rope made of tied-together bedsheets from a fourth-floor window.

It’s alleged the 39-year-old man climbed out of a window on the fourth floor then used a rope made from bedsheets to scale down the building and escape.

The man is said to have been denied a travel exemption to fly back to his home state, as West Coast is effectively shut to Queensland now amid a resurgence of Covid cases in Australia. He was taken to a hotel in Rivervale to stay.

Police arrested the man across town about 8 hours later, and charged him with failing to comply with a direction and providing “false/misleading information”.
