A 20-year-old woman from Florida has lost both legs following a Covid complication that included myocarditis, according to Fox13.
Claire Bridges, a 20-year-old model from St. Pete, Florida might have both legs amputated after getting sick with COVID-19. Claire was vaccinated, but due to a congenital heart condition, she developed a complication that could change her life forever.
Bridges’ GoFundMe page tells how she came to Tampa General Hospital on January 16 and was diagnosed with Covid, Myocarditis, Rhabdomyolysis, mild pneumonia, Cyanotic, and Acidosis.
An update from her dad on Facebook says Claire “was shocked to know she was in cardiac arrest 3 times and had to be brought back to life.”
“Unfortunately, the damage to her legs is too severe and irreversible, so she is going to lose both her legs,” the fundraiser states.
People have started to raise funding for Claire’s treatment on GoFundMe. A second fundraiser was started by a co-worker for “expenses Claire will face after she leaves the hospital.”
“When the moment came to let her know about losing her legs the doctor handled it beautifully but held nothing back. Claire whispered ‘I want Bionic legs’ and smiled,” Wayne Bridges wrote on Facebook.
