Netherlands: Rough Police Violence Against Anti-Lockdown Protesters [Video]

Some 2,000 demonstrators rallied in the centre of the Hague, the Netherlands on March 14 to protest against Covid-19 restrictions and other government policies.

Videos of riot police brutally hitting protesters during an anti-corona demonstration aroused a lot of outrage on the internet. The images were taken during police charges at the Malieveld in The Hague.

One video, widely shared on social media, appeared to show officers hitting a man on the ground with their truncheons.

In addition, 3 protesters and 6 police officers were injured, and 29 protesters were arrested. One officer fired a warning shot. Amnesty International believes that the images point to disproportionate police violence and calls for an investigation by the Public Prosecutor.
