EU COVID Travel Certificate Edges Closer – But It’s Not “Vaccine Passport”

The EU Parliament agreed on a direction for Digital Green Certificates, but allegedly wants to call it an “EU Covid-19 certificate” – to avoid any implication of it becoming a “vaccine passport”.

MEPs have said the document should “neither serve as a travel document nor become a precondition to exercise the right to free movement” and should only be in use for 12 months.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweeted her support for the “gateway” that will facilitate free and safe travel, but curiously appeared to ignore the name change.

  1. Once they put it in place, it will never go away and only become more restrictive, creating different classes of citizens. Mark my words.
