The clip allegedly shows the US diplomat stealing the railroad switch in broad daylight in the Tver region n spring 2021, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, disclosed on her Telegram channel on Monday.
He was later caught by the police but escaped punishment due to diplomatic immunity.
“The police, as expected, carried out pre-investigation measures and found on CCTV cameras that an unknown 30-year-old man had abducted the arrow and put it in the trunk of his car,” Maria Zakharova said. According to her, the vehicle stood out because it carried red diplomatic plates.
The culprit was found after police officers determined the indicator had been stolen by an unidentified man who placed the item into a car with diplomatic plates. The car was then pulled over by police later that day for an unrelated traffic rule violation – and the railway switch discovered in the trunk.
