Joe Biden said that 350 million Americans have been vaccinated with the experimental covid vaccine, however, that is higher than the actual population. According to the United States Census Bureau, the agency responsible for the US census, there are only about 332 million Americans.
It was on Friday during a speech from the White House that the president again lost the thread. The statement can be viewed below.
“This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated, so we need to get more people vaccinated,” he said. Then he takes a short break to check his notes and continues: “Far beyond… what was the number now again? I have to remind myself… 350 million Americans have already been vaccinated. They are fine”.
It is possible, writes Independent, that Biden referred to the number of vaccination doses administered in the United States, as those figures are close to 350 million. The actual number of fully vaccinated Americans is about 166 million, or about half the population.
This is far from the first time the president has appeared confused. As recently as last week, Biden mixed up former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama during a speech in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. When he discovered his mistake, he claimed that it was a Freudian error.
