The day after US Air Force airstrikes targeted a militia group on both sides of the Iraq-Syria border, U.S. military positions in Deir ez-Zor come under fire in eastern Syria.
Iranian-backed Shia militias have reportedly launched several rockets at Al-Omar Oil Field that the U.S. troops use as their base. No word of casualties or damage yet – reports are coming of the U.S. aerial activity after the strikes.
The attack comes after the U.S. on Sunday launched airstrikes targeting the Iran-backed militias on the Syrian and Iraqi border.
US Col. Wayne Marotto, a spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led mission against Daesh, said Monday that no injuries or damage to the base by the attack have been reported.
Video and photos circulating on social media captured the bombardment from afar.
