UK Vaccine Taskforce Head Criticizes Government For Prioritizing Booster Shots For Youth [Tweet]

The former head of the UK’s Vaccine Taskforce has criticised the government for prioritizing booster vaccines for healthy young people over caring for a vast backlog of older individuals with critical conditions including cancer and diabetes.

Despite extensive evidence that the variant only causes “moderate” disease, the British government has launched an ambitious drive to provide booster vaccinations to the whole adult population by the end of January to combat the threat posed by Omicron.

This will necessitate a significant investment of NHS resources to administer a million vaccinations per day, which will undoubtedly result in seriously ill patients missing out on cancer scans and other treatments.

Elon Musk: “I am Against Forcing People to Be Vaccinated” [Video]

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, said this week that he opposes vaccine mandates, saying, I think this is just not something we should do in America.”

Musk made the remarks in an interview with TIME, which named Tesla CEO Elon Musk Person of the Year.

When asked if he had been vaccinated, Musk replied, “Yes, I am,” he said, adding, “I’m very pro-vaccination.” He clarified, “I believe the science is unequivocal, I treat it to that effect. But by the same token I am against forcing people to be vaccinated.”

“You know I think this is just not something we should do in America. I think we should encourage people to get vaccinated, strongly try and convince them to be vaccinated, but not force them to be vaccinated,” Musk further explained.

“Or for example, force them to get vaccinated or get fired,” Musk added.

Musk previously advocated for the lifting of coronavirus restrictions and the reopening of America, declaring, “Give people their freedom back!”

German Schoolchildren Are Humiliated & Forced to Reveal Vaccine Status [Video]

In Germany, schoolchildren are subjected to daily embarrassment by being asked to show their vaccination status in front of their class, with unvaccinated children being asked as to why they haven’t received it.

Journalist Alex Story recounted the surprising development, which was covered by German media sites.

“It’s basically about the everyday humiliation of children who are forced to go to the front of the class and announce their vaccination status,” Story told GB News.

“Those who are vaccinated are applauded, those who are not have to explain why they’re not,” he added, noting that such treatment “should raise an alarm bell” for people who are in favour of mandatory vaccines.

Eastern Germany has seen a wave of protests against Covid-19 restrictions [Video]

Thousands of people took to the streets across former East Germany to protest coronavirus limitations and vaccine mandates imposed in the aftermath of the Omicron variant’s emergence.

On Monday, around 3,500 people gathered in Magdeburg, the capital of Germany’s Saxony-Anhalt state, to protest the limitations. Protesters marched through the city centre, yelling “Resistance!” and other anti-government chants in response to the rapid spread of the new Covid-19 strain across Europe.

Some 30 separate demonstrations, the majority of them against the government’s coronavirus policy, were held in Saxony-Anhalt on Monday alone. About 1,500 people took to the streets in Halberstadt, a town of just over 40,000 people.

In Wittenberg, which is home to about 46,000 people, some 1,300 showed up for the protest. Smaller demonstrations took place in Naumburg, Querfurt, Schonebeck, Aschersleben, and Dessau, among others.

“Significantly more people took part in the protests [this week] than last week,” local media reported, citing police estimates. The protest sentiment has been on the rise in the eastern German state.

Another 40,000 Afghan Migrants Are Accepted by EU [Tweet]

The EU has agreed to accept around 40,000 Afghan citizens, according to EU Interior Commissioner Ylva Johansson. She claims that Germany would be willing to take up to 25,000 migrants.

15 member states have already evacuated 28,000 people from their home country, Afghanistan. An additional 40,000 Afghans will now be provided with housing and livelihoods.

Germany will receive the majority of new arrivals, 25,000 people, the Netherlands allocated 3,159, Spain and France 2,500 each. Other countries receive lower numbers, according to information from the news agency AFP, Aljazeera writes. 

“I think this is an impressive act of solidarity,” Johansson said on Thursday.

She also claimed that offering more Afghans access to EU welfare in a controlled way will help limit the number of “irregular arrivals”.

Report: Face Mask Littering May Have Helped Spread Virus [Tweet]

During the first seven months of the coronavirus pandemic, incidents of littering with face masks and other personal protective equipment increased by 9000 per cent, according to a study from the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, and may have even assisted the virus’s spread.

According to BBC News, the study, which was published in the journal Nature Sustainability, found that around two million masks were collected as litter in 11 nations. This was simply a snapshot of what was going on in the rest of the planet.

The study discovered that Covid-related litter began an “exponential surge” in March 2020, shortly after the global pandemic was declared and governments around the world imposed restrictions, including mandatory face mask use.

“Overall the study shows the impact that legislating the use of items such as masks can have on their occurrence as litter,” Dr. Keiron Roberts, lead researcher with the University of Portsmouth, said, adding “We found that littered masks had an exponential increase from March 2020, resulting in an 84-fold increase by October 2020.”

“We need to avoid this pandemic litter becoming a lasting legacy,” Roberts added.

Using the trash collection software Litterati, the study was carried out in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The UK has the “highest total proportion of masks, gloves, and wipes as litter,” according to the analysis.

According to the survey, masks accounted for more than 5% of all litter in the country in August, September, and October 2020, with wipes and gloves accounting for another 1.5 per cent.

On Saturday, some 8,000 people gathered in Hamburg’s downtown area to protest mandatory vaccines for children.

Several protesters opposing COVID-19 guidelines have been sighted around the city.

During the early months of the pandemic, paranoid private persons were also spotted utilizing sticks and measuring tape to maintain social distance.

Twitter to Ban Users For Claiming Vaccinated People Can Spread Covid

Twitter’s “COVID-19 false information policy” has been quietly modified to include new fines for tweets concerning vaccines, PCR tests, and health authorities. The removal and labelling of tweets are among the sanctions. Both sorts of sanctions result in Twitter users accruing strikes, which can lead to a permanent suspension of their accounts.

One of the most noticeable modifications we detected in this “COVID-19 false information policy” is the allegation that vaccinated people can spread the coronavirus.

Twitter’s new policy specifies that “corrective information” will be labelled on tweets, and users will receive a strike if they: claim that “the vaccines will cause you to be sick, spread the virus, or would be more harmful than getting COVID-19”; post what Twitter describes as “false or misleading claims that people who have received the vaccine can spread or shed the virus (or symptoms, or immunity) to unvaccinated people”.

This implies that Twitter users who share or discuss the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) statement that “vaccinated people can still become sick and have the ability to spread the virus to others” may now face sanctions.

Another change is that if Twitter determines that a user’s claims “misrepresent research or statistical findings pertaining to the severity of the disease, prevalence of the virus, or effectiveness of widely accepted preventative measures, treatments, or vaccines,” it will strike and label the user’s tweets.

Furthermore, if users claim that “vaccines approved by health agencies (such as Pfizer’s Comirnaty vaccine in the United States) did not actually receive full approval/authorization, and thus that the vaccines are untested, ‘experimental,’ or somehow unsafe,” Twitter will give them two strikes and remove their tweets.

This appears to be a response to criticism of a footnote in the FDA’s “full authorization” paperwork for the Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) vaccine that disclosed the FDA had extended the vaccine’s emergency-use authorization.

Covid Quarantine Camps Going Up Across Canada [Video]

Canadian Minister of Health, Patty Hajdu, announced funding for projects across Ontario to operate COVID-19 isolation sites for people who have COVID-19 or have been exposed to it. 

“Today we’re confirming an additional 23,7 million dollars in federal funding to operate isolation sites in regions such as Toronto, Peel, York and Durham and we’re finalizing the details for similar sites in Thunder Bay Windsor and other regions,” said Patty Hajdu.

According to the minister, there are current item rooms fully federally funded in Ontario. The funding will allow for an additional 16 hundred rooms to be created bringing the total to approximately 2,000 rooms in the province.

“Now, these rooms are going to be of great use for people that contract Covid-19 and watch and protect the members of their household from also contracting the disease,” noted Hajdu. “It’s really important that public health units work with their local municipalities and that they support citizens to properly isolate when they’ve been diagnosed with Covid-19 so that we can curtail the spread.”

The Government of Canada is providing a total of approximately $100 million in funding to municipalities and health regions to establish safe voluntary isolation sites across the country. This funding is part of Canada’s rapid response to the spread of COVID-19.

US Wins Assange Extradition Appeal On International Human Rights Day [Tweet]

The US government’s appeal to extradite WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange was granted by the UK High Court, paving the way for his eventual espionage trial on American soil.

A district judge in January refused the US extradition request, noting the publisher’s delicate mental state and the risk that he might commit suicide if he had been subjected to harsh jail circumstances in the US.

The decision of the High Court is not final because it can be challenged. Stella Moris, Assange’s fiancee, branded the judgment “a tragic miscarriage of justice.” The case has been remanded to the Westminster Magistrates Court for further proceedings.

The High Court said it was satisfied with the US lawyer’s assurances that the so-called Special Administrative Measures (SAMs) would not be applied to Assange when in US custody. An earlier refusal to extradite him was partially justified by the fact that he could be subjected to SAMs. The US team argued during appeal hearings that if the American side knew it was an issue, they would have offered assurances to the contrary during the original process.

SAMs are special restrictions that the US prison system may order for inmates deemed to be dangerous. They include isolation from other prisoners at a maximum security facility. Critics say they are dehumanizing and in some cases may amount to psychological torture.

German Companies Suggest What Merkel Can Do After Leaving Politics [Tweets]

Angela Merkel‘s time in office is gone, and it’s time for the former chancellor to figure out what she wants to do with her free time. A few recommendations came from German companies.

Several German companies, including a local IKEA, decided to pay respect to the former German chancellor in an unexpected way by using her image in their recent advertisements.

Merkel’s image was included in an IKEA ad sitting in a cosy armchair in a modestly furnished room, congratulating her on being “finally home.” Since a caption to the ad on social media read: “Could you please pass me the opera glasses, I would want to see if Olaf is already busy,” the company obviously did not anticipate she would entirely forget about politics after 16 years as chancellor.

Merkel’s new calling may be gardening, according to a hardware store ad that depicted Merkel performing the trademark ‘Merkel’s rhombus’ or ‘diamond’ hand gesture while wearing the company’s gloves.

“For all those, who finally have time for a garden,” the ad’s caption read. Toom could also not help but remind its clients to treat politics seriously since the ad also featured another caption reading: “First go to vote and then off to the garden!”

Merkel does not appear to be a great gardener, but she does appreciate the beauty of nature. After all, she is well-known for her love of vacation hiking.

Now that she is no longer required to appear in front of photographers during official occasions, Germany’s Astra beer brand suggested the former chancellor may find a different use for her iconic ‘diamond gesture.’ The business presented the ex-chancellor with a bottle of its Astra Urtyp beer and wished everyone a “good evening.”

UK Wasting a Lot of Money on Pizza For Boat Migrants [Tweet]

According to reports, the UK government is spending a lot of taxpayer money on pizza for illegal immigrants crossing the English Channel.

Nigel Farage, the architect of Brexit, recently reacted to accusations that over $13,000 was spent on Domino’s pizzas for migrants in September.

Farage claimed that fellow taxpayers are “quite pissed” at being compelled to support large-scale food delivery to illegal alien detention centres.

Over $9,000 was spent on two days’ worth of pizza for illegals this week, according to GB News presenter Patrick Christys, and more was spent on food trucks when migrants complained about ‘cold kebabs.’

“A Dover branch of Dominos was forced to close last week after Border Force officers ordered hundreds of pizzas to feed migrants who had crossed the Channel,” GB News reports. “On Wednesday, Border Force officers reportedly bought 200 pizzas from Domino’s to feed the 703 migrants who had arrived. On Thursday, the figure rose to 500 pizzas to feed the record 1,185 new arrivals.”
