Russian Jets Patrol Over Belarus As Standoff With Poland Intensifies [Video]

Two Russian Tu-160 supersonic bombers flew over Belarus on Thursday as Poland bolstered its border forces and threatened an aggressive response to a standoff involving thousands of Middle Eastern asylum seekers.

The Russian Defense Ministry published a video of the sleek bombers carrying out their patrol, noting that they were accompanied by a Su-30SM of the Belarus Air Force, demonstrating a high level of interoperability between the two Collective Security Treaty Organization allies. The mission took four hours and 36 minutes, and the bombers traveled more than 3,000km.

The flight took place amid a migrant crisis developing along the border of Belarus and Poland, sparking concerns that the two events might be related.

Assange Allowed to Get Married in Prison [Tweet]

Jailed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has received a permit to marry his fiancée Stella Moris, UK media reported.

“Julian and I now have permission to marry in Belmarsh prison,” Moris tweeted on Thursday evening, explaining that the UK government had “backed down” 24 hours before a legal deadline.

“I am relieved but still angry that legal action was necessary to put a stop to the illegal interference with our basic right to marry,” she added.

Moris, who has two sons with Assange, filed a lawsuit against Justice Secretary Dominic Raab and Belmarsh Governor Jenny Louis on Friday, arguing that “creepy elements of the UK government” engaged in “unfair, irrational and sinister” behaviour to illegitimately interfere in their plans.

Assange and Moris have been engaged for five years, and have been asking officials at the maximum-security prison for permission to arrange a wedding since May. When they finally received a reply, they were told the matter had been referred to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

School Girl Tells Board That They Should All Go to Jail [Video]

After being punished nearly forty times for breaking rules, an eight-year-old girl in Tampa Bay fiercely told her school board that they should go to jail for forcing her and other children to wear masks against their choice.

Fiona Lashells was filmed reading a speech in front of the board in Florida, pointing out how masks don’t prevent the spread of viruses effectively because they become dirty and prompt people to constantly touch their faces.

“Just because I get suspended for not wearing a mask isn’t going to change my mind. You can keep suspending me, I still have the right not to wear a mask,” the young girl declared.

“It is not fair that I am getting punished because you guys, the school board are not following the law,” the second-grader continued, adding “I’m still going to stand up for what I believe in.”

“I hope you all go to jail for doing this to me,” Fiona urged, adding that her family is proud of her and finishing with “your rules suck.”

As noted by Fox 8 News last week, the school has repeatedly suspended Fiona for not wearing the mask in classes, and finally told her parents that she is going to fail because she has missed so much school.

YouTube Hides ‘Dislike’ Counter in Potential Benefit For White House

YouTube has taken down the thumbs-down counter on all videos, citing “dislike attacks” that it claims are aimed at tiny channels. According to critics, the official White House channel will reap the most benefits.

“We’re making the dislike counts private across YouTube, but the dislike button is not going away. This change will start gradually rolling out today,” the Google-owned platform announced on Wednesday.

Creators will still be able to see the dislike count in the back-end settings, if they choose to do so. Officially, the move is intended to counter “dislike attacks” and “help better protect our creators from harassment.” Matt Koval, YouTube’s creator liaison, said that people engaged in such coordinated attacks were doing this “because they don’t like the creator or what they stand for.”

Since the change was tested in March, critics have pointed out that its main beneficiary wouldn’t be the small channels, but the White House, whose 1.9 million-subscriber official channel has been consistently dislike-ratioed since the start of the Biden administration.

Belarus Accuses Poland of Using Violence Against Migrants at Border [Photo]

Almost 600 attempted unlawful border crossings into Poland were recorded on Tuesday, according to Warsaw’s border police, amid an intensifying migrant crisis on Poland’s shared border with Belarus.

Officials announced in a tweet on Wednesday alleging that nine people — Libyan, Iraqi and Syrian nationals — were detained on the previous day while trying to reach the EU nation.

Meanwhile, Belarusian border guards have accused their Polish counterparts of beating the migrants. They have published photos of bloodied people on Telegram, claiming that four Kurdish men alleged they were subjected to violence after being detained during their attempt to cross.

“Judging by the numerous injuries on the bodies of the migrants, the Polish security services treated the people harshly and used force to push them back over the barbed-wire fence on the border with Belarus,” the statement read.

UK Supreme Court rules in favour of Google – Tech giant won’t pay for spying on UK iPhone users

The UK Supreme Court has blocked a lawsuit against Google over claims that the US tech giant “illegally” tracked the personal information of millions of iPhone users.

On Wednesday, a panel of five Supreme Court justices unanimously allowed Google’s appeal against the UK Court of Appeal’s 2019 judgment on the case.

The appeal was launched by Google in April 2021 after the Court of Appeal overturned a decision by Britain’s High Court in October 2019 to reject a relevant claim by Richard Lloyd, former executive director of the UK technology magazine Which?

In a civil case filed in 2018, he claimed that Google “illegally exploited the data of millions of iPhone users” by “secretly collecting and collating” information about internet usage on iPhones’ Safari browser, dubbed the “Safari workaround.”

In a lengthy court document, the judges contended that the case was a “flawed endeavour,” noting that Lloyd’s claim attempted to gain compensation for each member of the represented class due to damages related to a violation of privacy without having to show how each member’s privacy was violated.

Google had also dismissed the claim, noting that the events took place over a decade ago and were dealt with at the time. “People want to know that they are safe and secure online, which is why for years we’ve focused on building products and infrastructure that respect and protect people’s privacy,” a Google spokesperson said.

Netizens Confused by United Colors of Benetton’s ‘Unisex Hijab’ [Photo]

A collection of unisex hijabs has been released by United Colors of Benetton. It was designed in partnership with Ghali Amdouni, an Italian rapper, as part of his Ghali collection.

“The hijab is a unique garment that I wanted very much. There was no resistance from the company to include it in the collection. When I was a child, I was bullied at school, there was no one to represent me, while now it is normality. I am tired of hearing how everything Arab or Tunisian is associated with something negative. When I was little, my mother was afraid that I would go out with my Arab companions, she preferred that I have Italian friends. Now I think it is important to say that this diversity is an added value, it is what makes me unique,” the rapper reportedly said.

He posed in a hijab for his 1.6-million audience on Instagram.

The hijab will be available in black, red, green and yellow for $40.66. Photos of the accessory were shared online.

Singapore to Stop Providing Free Covid Healthcare to ‘Unvaccinated by Choice’ [Tweet]

In an attempt to encourage vaccines, Singapore’s health ministry declared that the government will no longer fund the healthcare expenditures of Covid-19 patients who chose to stay unvaccinated.

Currently, unvaccinated persons make up a sizable majority of those who require intensive inpatient care, and disproportionately contribute to the strain on our healthcare resources,” the ministry said in a statement on Monday, adding that the same group makes up “the bulk of severe and ICU cases” and imposes “a strain on our healthcare system.”

“Hence, from 8 December 2021, we will begin charging Covid-19 patients who are unvaccinated by choice,” the Ministry stated.

While the government said its 70%-full ICU capacity is still “manageable” and that the vast majority of infections have been “mild” or asymptomatic as of late, it noted the pandemic is still “stretching our healthcare manpower” and a resurgence in cases could “overwhelm” the hospital system.

Internet voted YES to Musk’s Plan to Sell 10% of Tesla Stock [Tweet]

Elon Musk‘s Twitter followers voted yes to the billionaire selling 10% of his Tesla stock this weekend, and he has committed to follow through on the results of his divisive Twitter poll.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the world’s richest man, put the decision of whether to sell his stocks to a Twitter poll on Saturday and pledged to “abide by the results of this poll, whichever way it goes.”

Over 3.5 million people voted in the poll, which concluded with the ‘Yes’ faction winning by a comfortable margin (57.9%). When asked if the poll went the way he wanted, Musk signalled that he won’t go back on his promise to follow through.

“I was prepared to accept either outcome,” he tweeted.

Explaining his decision to consider selling off the stocks (valued at around $21 billion) Musk said that since he doesn’t “take a cash salary or bonus from anywhere,” the only way for him to “pay taxes personally is to sell stock.”

The poll angered many social media users, who accused Musk of devaluing the company’s stock, and reportedly prompted concerns among the electric car maker’s shareholders.

The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed they have prevented the first attempts by migrants to break through the borderline after thousands marched towards the EU country on Monday from Belarus.

Thousands of migrants march towards Poland’s border – Poland places forces on State of Alert [Videos]

A large group of refugees can be seen heading towards the Polish border from Belarus. The Polish Foreign Ministry said that the column of migrants is the largest attempt of mass force penetration into Poland so far.

The movement was initially reported by the Belarusian Border Guards and was later confirmed by videos posted online showing men, women and children moving along a highway.

More than 12,000 troops are on border duty according to Polish politician Mariusz Blaszczak. Earlier Poland’s Ministry of Defense published footage of a convey of reportedly 1,000 refugees heading to the EU country from Belarus.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki convenes an urgent meeting of an anti-crisis response centre in the wake of a migrant influx on the border with Belarus, cabinet spokesman Piotr Muller says. The Polish Territorial Defense Force (TDF) announced that its alert level was raised.

Lithuania is purportedly sending troops to help its bloc partner at the Polish-Belarusian border, due to the influx of migrants.
